“Cowboy" suffered the first TKO loss of his MMA career on Dec. 2, losing a UFC 218 “Fight of the Night” to Yancy Medeiros in Detroit. He was informed by his doctor that the nose injury he suffered in the fight requires surgery.
Oliveira will undergo surgery Thursday in Tres Rios, Brazil, MMA Fighting has learned.
The defeat snapped Oliveira’s five-fight unbeaten streak, which included stoppage victories over Ryan LaFlare, Tim Means and Will Brooks. "Cowboy" should be cleared to train full contact in a month.
Alex Oliveira's coach Andre Tadeu tells me it's still unclear if Cowboy will need nose surgery after the UFC 218 war with Yancy Medeiros.
