It's happening.
The details around the proposed mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor has been finalized after both sides signed the deal, meaning that the fight will actually happen, according to Yahoo Sports' Kevin Iole. The fight will be held on August 26 in Las Vegas.
Unbeaten boxer Floyd Mayweather will fight UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in a much-discussed boxing match on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas, a well-placed source told Yahoo Sports on Wednesday. Mayweather is expected to make the announcement on social media as early as Wednesday.
Terms of the deal were not available, but it will either be at the MGM Grand Garden or T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The Nevada Athletic Commission on Wednesday approved the request from Mayweather Promotions to put on a boxing card on Aug. 26 at the MGM Grand. The venue could change, however, to T-Mobile.
The bout will be distributed via Showtime pay-per-view. It will be an entirely boxing card. Mayweather Promotions will be the lead promoter.
UFC president Dana White seemed to confirm the news on Twitter.

Despite the different backgrounds of the two fighters, it will be a boxing match. Mayweather is 48-0 in his boxing career and is coming out of retirement for the fight. McGregor has never boxed professionally before, but has held the UFC's featherweight and lightweight belts, making him the first UFC fighter to hold two belts at the same time.

After winning the lightweight title at UFC 205, McGregor announced he was taking time off from the UFC, forfeiting the belts, to wait for the birth of his first child and to pursue this fight against Mayweather. After much back-and-forth on social media and hurdles to jump through (most notably McGregor's contract with the UFC), the fight has now become a reality.
Westgate Sportsbook in Las Vegas has Mayweather as a minus-1000 favorite in the fight, with McGregor's odds at plus-650.
