It’s official. Keisuke Honda will leave AC Milan this summer.
MLS, of course, is one of the most likely destinations for Honda, given how at the age of 30 the Milan number 10 would still be an effective player for a major club, and given how Asian players seem to be an untapped market for MLS clubs, Honda could be the player the kick-start a whole new trend for MLS franchises.
“But which MLS team?” I hear you say; well, Honda has plenty to choose from. The forerunners for the signature of the Japanese international is currently the Seattle Sounders, when it was reported in late February of this year that the current MLS Cup holders were on the verge of signing Honda, but since then the rumour has gone cold.
