Jake Nerwinski has earned his first MLS contract with the Vancouver Whitecaps.
The Whitecaps announced on Thursday that the 22-year-old defender has signed an MLS contract for 2017. The contract includes options for 2018, 2019, and 2020.
The ‘Caps selected Nerwinski with their seventh pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. At the time, it was unclear whether he would play with Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 in the USL or join the senior team. However, impressive performances during the recent Welsh preseason tour seem to have convinced Carl Robinson that Nerwinski is MLS-ready.
