USWNT Defeats Sweden in Friendly Match

A rematch of the Olympic quarterfinal in 2016 ended in a U.S. victory this time out. The USWNT held on for their third consecutive victory and their first win against Sweden in five matches.

How it Happened

Sweden was the better side in the opening half-hour of the match but failed to produce any real quality chances. Alyssa Naeher did have to make a save in the 18th minute when Olivia Schough took a shot from outside the 18 which was tipped over the crossbar by the USWNT goalkeeper.

The final 10 minutes of the first half was more lively, as both teams exchanged chances.
