An emphatic 4-0 victory by the United States Men’s National Team has put to rest the poor showing in the friendly matches leading up to the start of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. It was a dominant second-half performance that gave the Americans an all-important three points in their opening fixture of the group stage.
With three different goalscorers, the goal drought was lifted by Tyler Boyd, twice, Gyasi Zardes, and Paul Arriola. Perhaps more importantly, the backline of the USMNT was able to hold Guyana scoreless. Zack Steffen did not have much to do and earned one of the easiest shutouts of his career.
