The Freddy Adu World Tour is rumored to be adding another destination, this time in Sweden. The 28-year-old Adu is reportedly on his way to Scandinavia to sign with Oskarshamns AIK of Division 1 (the Swedish third division behind Superettan and the top-flight Allsvenskan).
Adu was last under contract with the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the North American Soccer League after being signed by former youth coach Thomas Rongen. However, Adu came down with an injury in his first appearance and Rongen was fired shortly after. After recovering, Adu showed promise over the last few games of the NASL season, but never found favor with new head coach Stuart Campbell the following season, who routinely opted to play Chelsea veteran Joe Cole over Freddy.
