After spending a few seasons away from being one of the more spendy teams in Major League Soccer, it appears the New York Red Bulls are ready to spend once again. Reports are surfacing that the New York club has placed a transfer bid of $7-million to Argentina’s Club Atletico Huracan for the services of 22-year-old left-wing, Alejandro Romero Gamarra.
The bid on Gamarra fits the most recent trend for MLS signings after Atlanta United broke the mold for their debut season. The Red Bulls felt that impact first hand as they slipped into the Eastern Conference Playoffs and the sixth seed behind club’s splashing on Designated Players like Toronto, NYCFC, Chicago, and Atlanta.
