Toronto FC were looking to win three games in a row for just the second time this season heading into Saturday night’s match against the Houston Dynamo, but the short-handed Canadian side fell 3-1 to a stingy and opportunistic Houston at BMO Field.
Greg Vanney organized his side in a 4-4-2 to start the match. The Reds tried to attack Houston’s right side through Justin Morrow and Tsubasa Endoh, however, the Dynamo were content to drop into a 4-4-2 low-block of their own. Their compactness enabled them to prevent numerical disadvantages out-wide. Despite out-possessing the visitors 63%-37% going into the break, TFC were the inferior side.
