Toronto FC continued their miraculous playoff run on Wednesday night, battling their way to a 2-1 victory over Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Reds were fortunate to go into the break with a 1-1 draw. They were struggling to cope with balls played beyond their backline and could have been down 2-0 by the 10th minute if not for Josef Martinez’s poorly placed penalty. Nicolas Benezet leveled the score with an outrageous curled effort just six minutes later, keeping his side in the match despite the fact that they had been outclassed.
The Five Stripes continued to dictate proceedings in the second half.
