Toronto FC goalkeeper Clint Irwin out six weeks with quad strain

Toronto FC goalkeeper Clint Irwin will be sidelined for the next six weeks with a quadriceps strain, the MLS club said on Tuesday.

Irwin was injured while taking a goal kick on Saturday in Toronto's 3-2 defeat to Orlando City.

The 27-year-old has kept eight clean sheets in 18 games in MLS and the Canadian Championship.

Alex Bono made his MLS debut in replacing Irwin, but he could not prevent two goals that led to TFC's loss.

The Whitecaps rallied to beat the Ottawa Fury on Wednesday.
