The most recent club to win their first MLS Cup was Atlanta United back in 2017, bringing the total of clubs to have won the biggest prize within American and Canadian club competitions to 14 out of the current 27 in existence. Some of the projected heavy hitters in the 2021 Major League Soccer season are among that other half of teams still looking to achieve that feat for the first time.
