The night went from good to bad to worse for Sporting Kansas City when they played host to the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night. A goal by Krisztian Nemeth gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute. His celebrations would be short-lived, however, as a rash tackle in the 51st minute saw red, leaving Sporting KC to defend for the remainder of the contest.
Despite fighting off the attacks of the Whitecaps, the Sporting KC defense was unable to keep their opponents at bay in the final minute of the match. Derek Cornelius finished a close-range volley to help his side steal a point on the road.
