Sporting Kansas City were looking to recover their position in the Western Conference with a second-half surge into the playoff places on Saturday, this time hosting direct competitors, Real Salt Lake, who had enjoyed a fiery rivarly with Sporting KC through the years and were also six points clear before kick-off.
Sadly for Sporting KC, however, they met an industrious and clinical Real Salt Lake, who, thanks to two well-taken Corey Baird goals, snatched three points on the road for only the third time this season.
