Goals came in droves for Sporting Kansas City on Friday night against the Vancouver Whitecaps. The home side was led by Johnny Russel who produced a hat-trick for the first time in his Major League Soccer career. SKC took the lead just nine minutes into the match, Russel scored his first of the night with a fantastic first-time shot.
Russell took on the Whitecaps backline all by himself for his second goal of the match. Weaving through the box and dispatching it past the goalkeeper.
Jimmy Medranda scored one of the goals of the season with a thunderous strike in the 30th minute to make it 3-0.
