On Sunday afternoon, the Seattle Sounders host Toronto FC in the third MLS Cup meeting between the two sides in the last four years. Both teams come into the game after pulling off huge upsets in their respective conference finals match-ups.
Despite finishing 16 points behind LAFC, the Sounders managed a surprisingly comfortable 3-1 defeat of Bob Bradley’s side by maintaining defensive discipline and springing rapid counter-attacks. Toronto FC also emerged victorious last weekend in spite of their underdog status, grinding their way to a 2-1 win over Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Saturday’s final at CenturyLink Field will have historical significance for each side.
