The Seattle Sounders moved up to second in the Western Conference with a huge 4-2 win over the New York Red Bulls at the weekend. With the attack flourishing and their mental fragilities holding strong after blowing a two-goal lead, this was a hugely encouraging performance from Brian Schmetzer’s side.
For the Red Bulls, the defeat keeps them in the lower reaches of the Eastern playoff race. Kaku scored a lovely equaliser and, at that point, they were the stronger team in the contest. But as has been the case for much of the season, they just fell short of the true elite MLS teams.
