Seattle Sounders: Reliving Stefan Frie’s magical 2016 MLS Cup final save

It has been five months since the Seattle Sounders won the MLS Cup Final in Toronto. It was probably one of the strangest MLS Cup finals to date, with the winner never registering a shot on target the entire game compared to Toronto’s 19 total shots with seven on target.

There isn’t much to remember about this game outside of the penalty kicks. The biggest highlight of the game, though, was Stefan Frie’s incredible save against Jozy Altidore in extra time. The looping header looked to be for sure the goal that would win it all for Toronto FC, but the Seattle shot-stopper made what was probably the best save of his career, denying Altidore and Toronto the MLS Cup they longed for.
