The Portland Timbers finished in 6th place in the Western Conference, making it into the post-season in the final few weeks of the regular season, but they were unable to go any further that the first round of the MLS Cup playoffs, as they lost the Real Salt Lake away at Rio Tinto Stadium.
That finishing position in the post-season comes as a disappointment following the 2018 campaign, where they reached the final, only to lose out to Atlanta United.
They did make the semi-finals of the U.S. Open Cup, but they will be looking for even more in 2020.
