Portland Thorns Vs North Carolina Courage: 3 things we learned – Record attendance

The Portland Thorns hosted a record-setting crowd in Providence Park to watch their Thorns come from behind for a 2-1 win against the defending champions, the North Carolina Courage.

The whistle blew and it was all Courage early on, with Crystal Dunn finding herself at the right spot at the right time to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute. However, as the game progressed, both teams settled into their rhythms, with a nice flow to the match. Despite chances at both ends, Dunn’s strike was the difference at half-time.

After half-time substitutions for Mark Parsons and the Thorns, the home side got on the board in the 56th minute when Courage keeper Stephanie Labbé tipped a cross into her own net.
