The sky isn’t falling but, for the New York Red Bulls, a 2-1 home loss to Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night was far from a good look.
The team rarely looked comfortable unless they were pressing, maniacally attempting to win the ball and 50-50 situations. It is the first game of the season for the New York Red Bulls but the lack of a central midfielder to pull the strings in the attacking third is concerning. Playing ping-pong and capitalizing on mistakes with a true, quality maestro is not a recipe for success.
