In their fifth season in Major League Soccer, Orlando City SC failed to reach the playoffs once again, and the club is still looking for their first-ever postseason berth. The 2019 season was an improvement on 2018 as they earned 37 points compared to the 28 they managed last term, however, the Lions still could only finish in 11th spot in the Eastern Conference and 22nd overall in the Supporters’ Shield standings.
Orlando City did manage to make it to the semi-finals of the U.S. Open Cup, which is their best performance in the country’s premier knockout competition, but their disappointing MLS performance led to James O’Connor’s sacking.
