The former Spanish international was the first signing for the newly formed club back in 2014, and the club captain has had an incredible career so far in MLS, winning the 2016 MVP award as Villa guided NYCFC to the MLS playoffs in only their second season.
Villa is also the clubs top goal scorer, scoring 44 goals in the league in the 68 appearances Villa has made for in the three years he has been at the club.
