Early this month, news broke that the National Women’s Soccer League would be adding an expansion franchise in Salt Lake City with the Real Salt Lake organization. Initially, there were conflicting reports on whether or not RSL would be taking over FC Kansas City or if the SLC team would be an entirely new franchise. Since then, it was revealed that the yet to be named Salt Lake side would acquire the rights to all of the Kansas City players and that FC Kansas City would cease operation.
Moving the failing NWSL club from one MLS team to another could be viewed as concerning.
