A season full of expectations for the North Carolina Courage came to its foreseen end when they defeated the Chicago Red Stars 4-0 at home to clinch their second-straight NWSL Championship.
The North Carolina Courage started the final on the front foot, only taking four minutes to find the opener when Debinha notched the fastest goal in NWSL final history. Jessica McDonald doubled the champions’ lead in the 25th minute to make it 2-0 and her USWNT counterpart Crystal Dunn added the third in the dying moments of the first half. It was already game over.
