New England Revolution's new DP Xavier Kouassi has torn ACL

The New England Revolution's latest aquisition Xavier Kouassi faces six to nine months on the sidelines after tearing the ACL in his right knee on Sunday.

Kouassi signed with the Revs last week as a designated player from Swiss club FC Sion with a plan to join the MLS club this summer.

But the midfielder injured his knee and was replaced in the second half of Sunday's 1-0 win over FC Zurich.

Sion manager Didier Tholot told Le Nouvelliste that Kouassi's season in the Swiss Super League was over.

Kouassi's injury could impact the Revolution's decision on whether to re-sign Jermaine Jones, whose contract ran out after last season.
