The Montreal Impact have had a terrific start to the summer. A run of four wins from their last five matches has taken the club right back into the Eastern Conference playoff picture, a feat that looked impossible given the dismal start to 2018.
Saturday night’s clash against Sporting KC gave the hosts a chance to defeat one of the top clubs in Major League Soccer. They completed it with a 2-0 win, highlighted by goals from Ignacio Piatti and Alejandro Silva.
Piatti scored from long range as Sporting KC goalkeeper Tim Melia couldn’t parry the shot away, and following Daniel Lovitz drawing a penalty kick in the box, Silva stepped up and coolly dispatched it to make it 2-0 in the 70th minute.
