After winning their last three matches and moving above the playoff line in the Western Conference, Real Salt Lake would have been confident of going to Montreal on Wednesday night and getting something for their efforts. Instead, they put in one of their worst performances of the season.
The Montreal Impact, meanwhile, were very good. A well-drilled, cohesive unit that took their chances and excellently managed the game, even without Ignacio Piatti, their unquestioned talisman, the Canadians won with ease.
