It was a big night for Los Angeles FC, who won their first major trophy, as they clinched the Supporters’ Shield in only their second season in Major League Soccer. They did so thanks to a 3-1 victory over Houston on Wednesday night, with goals from three of their main men as they lifted the trophy in front of their home fans at the Banc of California Stadium.
Elsewhere, New York City FC put themselves just a point away from clinching the Eastern Conference title with a convincing victory over Atlanta United. They would have become Eastern champions had Philadelphia lost, but the Union came from behind to overcome the San Jose Earthquakes.
