Friday night saw reigning MLS Champions, Toronto FC, gain a much-needed victory, putting three past the visiting Philadelphia Union. Meanwhile, the New York Red Bulls hosted the first Hudson River Derby of the season, breezing past New York City FC 4-0.

The Montreal Impact jumped to the seventh spot in the East with an impressive 4-2 victory over the New England Revolution, while a ten-man Minnesota United squeezed past the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0.

Four teams settled for a point apiece, LAFC and FC Dallas fought to a 1-1 draw, while the Columbus Crew and the Seattle Sounders remained scoreless after 90 minutes, and a five-goal battle in Houston saw the Dynamo walk away with a 3-2 win.
