Minnesota United and Sporting Kansas City have a history of playing each other, just not in MLS play. Since the U.S. Open Cup is kept pretty regional in the opening rounds, the two found themselves facing each other multiple times in the years leading up to the Loons growth.
Now that both are in MLS the two find themselves in different situations. Minnesota has played well of late but now they want to prove it against one of the league’s top teams. Sporting wants to keep that top spot in the Western Conference standings.
