Minnesota have officially signed Swedish goalkeeper John Alvbåge on loan, the parent club announced. Alvbåge, who has played his entire career in the Swedish top flight, is now Minnesota’s only healthy keeper on their roster, meaning that this signing comes as a big relief to not only fans, but also team personnel, who finally have someone to put in-between the posts.
The 34 year-old Alvbåge has been playing at IFK Goteburg for the past four seasons, and has served has the club’s captain for the past two. Alvbåge is also a Swedish international, having four national team caps to his name, and he served as Sweden’s backup goalkeeper during the 2006 World Cup.
