Minnesota United pitches stadium to state House committee

Minnesota United FC owner Bill McGuire renewed his push for state assistance in building a new soccer stadium in the Midway neighborhood of St. Paul.

McGuire spoke before the House tax committee on Thursday, telling the panel that without the continued property tax exemptions, a stadium might not be built, according to a report in the Star Tribune.

MLS commissioner Don Garber said on Thursday that the league's goals for expansion include a plan for Atlanta United and Minnesota United to join the league in 2017.

"It would be very difficult and will be very difficult for us to make that commitment," he told the committee.
