After the announcement of the deal, many questioned Colorado’s reasoning for making the trade with Minnesota United. Some wondered why Colorado would trade away their captain, and one of their best players, Sam Cronin. However, the deal makes sense for both sides, for multiple reasons.
For Minnesota, they traded away two players who were pretty much luxury players for them, and in return received two MLS veterans who can step in and contribute right away. Burch should help sure up Minnesota’s weakest position, the left back spot. Cronin meanwhile, will provide a veteran presence in the midfield, while also being able to do some defensive dirty work, which is something Minnesota desperately needs.
