Costa Rican international Johan Venegas was acquired on the day of the MLS SuperDraft in a trade that sent Chris Duvall to Montreal. Out of favor in Quebec, Venegas was supposed to provide Minnesota with a dangerous playmaker with skill.
Unfortunately, Venegas soon fell out of favor in Minnesota as well, and only had a couple of unimpressive substitute appearances over the last couple months of the season, while questions about his effort and commitment were asked by Loons supporters, as well as Adrian Heath. Venegas may still have some value in MLS, so it probably be best Minnesota parted with him.
