It’s been an up and down season for both MLS Western Conference teams. Yet the LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake both clinched playoff berths. They’ll face off against each other in a winner takes all game on Wednesday night in the Knockout Round. The winner’s season extends for at least two weeks, while the losers pack up and head home.
The LA Galaxy’s roster is filled with players who are used to high-pressure situations and elimination matches in both domestic and international action. For example, Landon Donovan, who came out of retirement midseason to help a thin Galaxy side, should be a source of experience and leadership as Bruce Arena’s side prepares for Real Salt Lake.
