JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Josh Scobee never wanted to play football.
Had the football coach at Longview (Texas) High School taken a different route to practice, Scobee might have ended up playing for a Major League Soccer instead of becoming the leading scorer in Jacksonville Jaguars history.
"I kind of got into this by accident," Scobee said Thursday afternoon after he signed a ceremonial one-day contract and retired as a member of the Jaguars. "So, playing 12 years in the NFL is pretty awesome, to do something like this by accident."
Scobee was just kicking footballs with a friend when Lobos football coach Robert Bero walked by on his way to practice.
