There is a lot of intrigue surrounding Canada heading into this Gold Cup. It will be their only competitive matches for a while and their recent friendly results haven’t brought a resounding confidence to fans. This year Canada beat Curacao 2-1, drew Scotland 1-1, and beat Bermuda 4-2. Unbeaten but not the most convincing games for the Reds.
Their Gold Cup roster is filled with new, and mostly younger names. Alphonso Davies is the most well known of the new guys. Samel Piette and Lucas Cavallini are also noteworthy. A lot of familiar names are also gone, meaning this Gold Cup is more of a transition for Canada to try and prepare for 2022 World Cup Qualifying, all while trying to make a surprise run towards a second Gold Cup title.
