On Wednesday night, D.C. United played host to a bruised Chicago Fire coming off two poor performances in what was one of the wilder MLS matches you will see all season long.
The Fire took an early two-goal lead, first through CJ Sapong thumping a header off a Nicolas Gaitan freekick and then Djordje Mihailovic’s long effort deflecting past a stranded Bill Hamid, before D.C. pegged them back and eventually took a 3-2 lead, the goals coming from Ulises Segura, twice, and Luciano Acosta.
But then Francisco Calvo scored a manic goal in stoppage time to rescue a point for the Fire, clipping a header into the gaping goal as Hamid tried to come to punch the ball clear, instead clattering into the Chicago defender.
