Day 1: NWSL players making their mark on the Rio Olympics

One of the most fascinating numbers to come out of Rio after Day one is that fact that all 10 NWSL clubs had at least one player make an appearance on opening day. Follow that with the fact that with 38 players available from the NWSL for selection, the average number of minutes played by them after day one was 68 minutes. NWSL players accounted for 24 start and eight substitutions.

The Houston Dash had the most appearances by any club as Carlie Lloyd, Morgan Brian, Janine Beckie, Lydia Williams,Andressa, Poliana, and Allysha Chapman all showcased their talents on day one.
