Columbus Crew Owner Really Talking Move to Austin

San Francisco-headquartered Precourt says the largest metropolitan area without a major sports team remains Austin. So they should get the Columbus Crew if the city won’t deliver a new soccer stadium.

Anthony Precourt himself announced it.

Precourt: The current course is not sustainable. This club has ambition to be a standard bearer in MLS, therefore we have no choice but to expand and explore all of our options.

MLS Commissioner Don Garber agreed, while cautioning that the league has resisted team relocation. He hinted the league might go with Precourt’s decision, including Austin, if that city comes up with a stadium plan.
