The Chicago Red Stars continue to skid their way through the World Cup stretch. This time, they fell to the Seattle Reign, their third loss in a row.
The game was close early on, with both teams hitting the woodwork in the first half. The pice picked up in the second half after the rain started pouring down in Bridgeview during halftime. Beverly Yanez nearly scored in the 56th minute, the ball sliding against her foot instead of actually being struck, and then, in the 77th minute, when the clouds parted for just a moment during a corner kick, Casey Short’s header sailed straight to the arms of Casey Murphy.
