Chicago Fire recently started its episode of Extreme Makeover: MLS edition. With Veljko Paunovic taking the helm the team shifted to a more youthful approach and dumped off many of their long standing veterans. While this is understandable to some degree, here are three puzzling releases that the Fire decided on.
1. Jeff Larentowicz
The 32 year old midfielder turned defender for the season was the most surprising release by the Fire. Moved to the back line for most of the season, the former Rapid and Revolution man still netted six goals in 29 games played.
