Atlanta United defeated Orlando City 2-0 in Tuesday night’s U.S. Open Cup semi-final thanks to goals from Eric Remedi and Emerson Hyndman. Even without Orlando’s father, Josef Martinez, in attendance, the Five Stripes still got the job done in a professional win. Now, Atlanta will get its shot at a second trophy in as many years when it hosts the final on August 27.
Just as Atlanta seemingly got its mojo back in a 3-0 win against LA Galaxy, injury hit. After some social media sleuthing by a few observant fans, many began to wonder why Martinez didn’t travel with the team down to Orlando.
