Atlanta United kept its narrow lead in the race for the Supporters’ Shield with their 2-1 win over the New England Revolution on Saturday afternoon. The Five Stripes looked in control right from kickoff, with a Josef Martinez shot finding the back of the net within the first minute, only for it to be called back for offside. Atlanta never looked back, though, and cruised to another three points, despite what the slim winning margin indicates.
A lot happened during the course of the match, including a significant injury, a historic goal, and the continued implementation of some new tactics.
