Atlanta United are looking to reach the quarter-finals of the US Open Cup for the first time in franchise history. The Five Stripes bowed out of the tournament last year in the Round of 16 on the road against NASL team Miami FC. Meanwhile, the Chicago Fire also failed to make it past the Round of 16 last year, losing to USL side FC Cincinnati in a penalty shootout.
This year, both teams will look to advance to the tournament’s quarter-finals. This match is especially important because the winner will host the quarter-final match against a USL side.
