Atlanta United: 3 reasons why Frank de Boer is next step to MLS dominance

Just fifteen days after winning MLS Cup, Atlanta United found its replacement for Gerardo “Tata” Martino. Frank de Boer is Atlanta’s newest head coach. The former Ajax manager will take the reins of the newest league champion.

There was significant silence surrounding the club’s coaching search once the season ended. After announcing Martino’s departure, there were heavy rumors surrounding South American coaches Guillermo Barros Schelotto and Jorge Sampaoli. Up until a few days ago, rumors were few and far in between. Carles Puyol’s name was thrown into the mix until ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle broke the news that de Boer was a serious candidate for the Five Stripes.
