Alvaro Fernandez Signing Overshadowed by Lodeiro

Seattle fans got exactly what they wanted when the front office announced the signing of new DP Nicolas Lodeiro last Monday. The munch needed replacement for Obafemi Martins looks to be the perfect fit for the Sounders after being named to the MLS Team of the Week for his debut performance against the LA Galaxy. What is quickly forgotten, though, is that one day after Lodeiro was signed, the Sounders resigned Alvaro Fernandez off a free transfer from Argentine club Gimnasia.

Fernandez first played for the Rave Green from 2010-2012, scoring a total of 17 goals for the Sounders in 81 appearances mostly in the midfield.
