Despite leaving the match early on, Morgan’s night ended on a happy note as she watched goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi convert a penalty that gave Lyon the title. The match was contested in Cardiff City, Wales where the men’s final will be played this coming Saturday.
Morgan has been sidelined with a hamstring injury for the past few weeks and it flared up again just 18 minutes into the match and she was subsequently substituted in the 22nd minute.
This is the fourth time Lyon has won the Champions League, as they are now tied with Frankfurt for the most European titles in women’s soccer.
