The much-anticipated matchup between Alex Morgan and Carli Lloyd concluded on Saturday night as Lyon got the better of Manchester City with a 3-2 aggregate win. A 3-1 win in the opening leg was enough to hold off the English side, with only one more goal was needed from City to send them through to the final on away goals.
It was a tense second half as Lloyd scored an all-important goal in the 57th minute to give City hope. Lyon goalkeeper, Sarah Bouhaddi, produced a poor pass which was intercepted by Lloyd and dispatched for the only goal of the match.
